Annie and I have known Asher (or 'Asha' as a great
number of people know him by) for some years now. His music is
closely associated with his own life journey and
spiritual searching. One would describe it as inspired and it really can lift the
soul.
In his writings he reminds me (Francis) of the
spiritual searching that Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam)
underwent back in the 1970s that so reflected in
his music - before he eventually converted to
Islam that is. Like a great many others, no doubt, I was
inspired by Yusuf's, Tea for the Tillerman
and Catch Bull at Four, dipping into Sufism
and Zen Buddhism. I get the same lift from Asher's
music. You'll know what I mean as soon as you hear
any of his albums.
The albums chosen
here are especially selected for their ambient and
inspiring quality. Take a read of Asher's
background and explore the music we've
chosen.
