The Great
Wheel This
work is pure auditory bliss. I found this album in
1989 through a mail order catalog from the UK and
fell in love with it. The title track 'The Great
Wheel', a 29 minute long epic, can evoke emotions
of joy and ectasy that you never thought were
possible. The sense of peace this albumn evokes is
such that I had a terminally ill family member who
would listen to this one song repeatedly while in
hospital. This work is that powerful! Have some
tissues nearby when you listen the first time! If
you only own one CD this is the one to buy!

The ultimate in new age music. I do not know
of any other piece of new age music that has the
potential of the great wheel..... Set the CD player
on repeat and listen for hours. You will be taken
to a higher plane.
A music fan (4/5)The
most glorious music I have ever heard! I bought a
CD of "The Great Wheel" five years ago, not knowing
who James Asher was or ever hearing his music. The
28-minute title song, The Great Wheel, is so
hauntingly beautiful that it still makes me cry,
even after all these years. I listen while having a
massage, while sitting in traffic, while
meditating. I often open the sun-roof of my car
while sitting in the Atlanta traffic and let the
music escape into the ethers for all to enjoy! It
is very special!!!

Globalarium James
Asher`s fantasia of world/tribal music is a
delightful brew - an intoxicating concoction of
global rhythms and Western style 'grooves'. Many
cuts use chants and drones to weave hypnotic
spells, while others will coax your hips to swaying
with their seductive rhythms.
A music fanI'd had
this music on a cassette a few years ago and the
tape broke. I was thrilled to be able to find it
now on a CD. Light some incense, put this on your
CD player and I guarantee your stress will
disappear.

Globalarium is a musical portrait of a
unified and harmonious world through a multiplicity
of ethnic musical styles. Just as Asher's previous,
The Great Wheel, covered a lot of ground, his new
Globalarium travels far and wide in gathering its
musical influences, such as didgeridoo, classical
flute, trumpet, shakuhachi, recorder, steel drum
and a large selection of sampled and electronic
sounds. Adding to the mix are guest performers such
as Hossam Ramsy on percussion (has played with
Peter Gabriel), Tim Wheater on flute, Joji Hirota
(of Trisan trio), and, of course, Asher himself who
plays keyboards in addition to being composer,
producer and arranger on Globalarium. The ingenious
combinations and multitextured pieces command
attention and invite lots of in-depth exploration
for rewarding listening all the way.

Lotus
Path Years ago,
Asher released his debut CD called 'The Great
Wheel'. Besides being in a meditative extended
style prior to that genre coming into vogue, it was
a far cry from his juicy world music escapades such
as 'Feet in the Soil'. Lotus Path is his first
extended length meditative CD since 1988. In this
release, Asher embraces the rich sounds of the
bazouki and dulcimer. Inspired by the percussive
and melodic interplay of these stringed
instruments, Asher weaves a dynamic journey of
sound. Lotus Path's mood is further enhanced
through the addition of chanting by Indian
percussion maestro Sivamani. Equal parts journey

meditative backdrop, Asher calls on others
for harp, flutes and cello parts, and focuses the
energy on the 32 minute title track which opens the
album, a musical adventure imbued with warmth and
spirit.
www.backroadsmusic.comA wonderful,
relaxing album. The highlight is the thirty minute
long title track - any fan of the The Great Wheel
will find comfort with this track.

lovely it is - thank you, thank you, thank you.
